Rich Sands is an experienced software product management, community development, marketing and business strategy executive who helps software organizations drive business success through developer engagement and community building.
Formerly Director of Developer Communities at Black Duck, he was the product and community manager for ohloh.net, a comprehensive directory and analytics tool for FOSS projects and people.
Rich has been a software developer, product manager, marketing pro, and consultant. At Sun Microsystems, Rich was a key contributor to the successful open sourcing of the Java Platform and the launch of the OpenJDK project. As a consultant, he has helped companies large and small engage with developers to drive adoption of their platforms and APIs, and build successful communities.
