Contributing to free software projects requires persistence, humility, and above all, good communication skills. Upstream University will lead a discussion on how to teach these to aspiring contributors: can it be done? If so, how?
Upstream University, with the backing of luminaries such as Richard Stallman and Bradley Kuhn, offers a training program aimed at helping
professional developers contribute successfully to free software projects. Each student is guided by a mentor who is experienced in upstream contribution, and any code produced during training is done so under the technical authority of the lead of the project.
