Apache ZooKeeper has become a de facto standard for distributed coordination. Its design has proven to be flexible enough that it can be applied to a variety of needs of distributed applications. It has been used for Leader Election, Service Discovery, Status Monitoring, Dynamic configuration and others. It has simplified lives of services engineering and is easily applied to various projects. It has multi tenancy features allowing ZooKeeper to run as a shared service. Its performance and reliability has allowed it to be a critical component in distributed systems.

ZooKeeper has been in production at companies like Yahoo!, Facebook, LinkedIn and many others. This talk will include a review of the breadth of ZooKeeper features and use cases in low latency systems like ad platforms, high latency WAN environment and high throughput deployments. The talk will also include the future roadmap for ZooKeeper.
