Karen Rustad

Karen Rustad is a product software engineer at Disqus. She recently received a master’s degree from UC Berkeley’s School of Information where she mainly studied user experience design, web application development, and issues related to information justice and open source software.

Karen works primarily with Python, CSS, and Javascript and volunteers code, design, and other contributions for Django-based open source project OpenHatch. She has taught Python, Django, and web programming generally to women and their friends in San Francisco, Berkeley, and Boston, and wrote a research paper on FOSS diversity and community-building (a summarized version of which appeared in the August 2011 issue of Full Circle Magazine).
