Tim Sammut
Security Engineer, Cisco Security Research and Operations

Tim Sammut is a member of the Security Research & Operations (SR&O) organization at Cisco where he serves in a technical leadership role. Tim is currently focusing on three primary areas: leading the customer listening and content evangelization efforts in SR&O to ensure that its security content is meeting the needs of Cisco’s customers; serving in a technical marketing role for Cisco IPS Signature Services; and leading company-wide third-party software security initiatives that work to address the product security impact of bundled third-party software. Tim’s third-party software security efforts extend beyond Cisco where he chairs the Third-Party Software Security working group within ICASI-the Industry Consortium for the Advancement of Security on the Internet-and volunteers on the Gentoo Linux Security Team.

Not always focused, Tim generally enjoys marrying creativity and technology to tackle difficult problems. He is a published author with more than 18 years of professional experience and many additional years consumed by a personal fascination of computers, networking, and security.

Tim lives in northern California with his wife, daughters, dog, cat, rabbit, fish and Jeeps.
