John Igoe has over 25 years of experience in the high technology industry. He has been Dell’s executive sponsor of the OpenStack initiative since it was originally formed in 2010 and has been deeply involved in Dell’s strategy around OpenStack by leading the team that released Dell’s OpenStack Solution and developed the Crowbar technology released to the open source community.
John has held executive level positions in both Engineering and Service organizations in companies such as Banyan Systems, Wellfleet Communications, Bay Networks and Nortel. He served as a VP of Engineering developing complex routing solutions and as a VP of Global Technical Services. As VP of Services at Bay Networks John was responsible for the implementation of their Remote Management Service offering. Architecting the core systems infrastructure and building out Network Operations Centers in the US, EMEA and PACRIM areas.
Most recently, John was the Founder and CTO of SilverBack Technologies, a provider of cloud based infrastructure management software, SilverBack was acquired by Dell in 2007.
John’s initial position at Dell was as Director of Advanced Service Technology in Dell’s Services organization. In this role he was responsible for defining and architecting the technology platform for Dell’s Software as a Service offering around Modular Services. John’s most recent position is that of Executive Director of Cloud & Big Data Solutions in Dell’s Data Center Solutions group where he is leading the effort to define and build software solutions targeted at public and private clouds.
