GlusterFS - open source, distributed filesystem for scale-out storage

If you’ve ever been tasked with managing storage in the cloud, in virtualized environments, or just large, scale-out systems in general, you know that storing data in elastic environments presents many difficulties for the developer, systems analyst or sysadmin.

GlusterFS is an open source scale-out NAS solution. The software is a powerful and flexible solution that simplifies the task of managing unstructured file data, whether you have a few terabytes of storage or multiple petabytes. GlusterFS aims to solve the following problems:

1. a POSIX-compliant distributed file system that doesn’t require application porting or re-writes 2. Scaling out your storage capability without losing performance 3. Geo-replication + N-way replication, regardless of location 4. A true global namespace, across multiple deployments, regardless of location
