With help from our some of our awesome sponsors, we've planned a ton of fun events for every day of OSCON, including Ignite, OSCON Carnival, Walking Tour, and of course, plenty of parties. As you plan your time in Portland, don't forget to stop by a few (or all) of them.
This year we're going to have a little fun with the buttons we're featuring on OSCON.com, while testing your scavenger and word puzzle skills. We've created fourteen unique, OSCON-branded buttons, each with one letter on them. Collect all 14 buttons and then use the letters on the buttons to decipher the secret phrase. The first 500 attendees to show us all 14 buttons and tell us what the secret phrase is get an OSCON hoodie and are entered in a drawing to win additional bonus prizes. Get the details.
The online Attendee Directory for OSCON is now open. See who else will be at OSCON this year, set up your personal profile, message other attendees, and manage your contacts. You will need to make sure you are opted-in to the Attendee Directory in order to begin using it.
Create your own OSCON, OSCON Data, or OSCON Java agenda using the personal scheduler function. Mark the presentations and events you want to attend by clicking on the calendar icon next to each listing on the website. You can then access it by clicking on "personal schedule" link in the Schedule View page.
Printed versions of the daily schedule will also be available throughout the conference area.
Rate the sessions, workshops, and keynotes you attended by going to any session description page and clicking on the set of stars in the upper right-hand corner. Only registered attendees may rate and comment on sessions, so if you aren't already logged in, you'll be asked to do so. Your username/email and password are the same ones you used to register for OSCON, OSCON Data, or OSCON Java.
Have a question or comment for a speaker? Post them in the "Add New Comment" field found at the bottom of any session detail page. Please keep in mind that your comments will be public.
Birds of a Feather (BoF) sessions provide face to face exposure to those interested in the same projects and concepts. BoFs can be organized for individual projects or broader topics (best practices, open data, standards). BoF topics are entirely up to you. Get more information about organizing a BoF session. Sign up to lead a BoF session at the BoF board near Registration.
Wireless Internet will be available throughout the conference area. There is no password required to access the OSCON wireless network. Keep in mind that you're sharing the network with your fellow conference attendees, so please refrain from downloading large files while on the conference network. If you need assistance getting online, please visit the customer service sesk in Registration or send a message to @oscon.
Need to charge your laptop, iPad, phone, etc? Power strips are available throughout the Ballrooms, Oregon Ballroom Foyer, Portland Ballroom Foyer, and the Hacker's Area (located outside the Expo Hall). Once you've powered up, please share with your neighbors and unplug if necessary.
During the conference, all keynotes will be streamed live. After the conference, session files will be available for download and select video will be available for viewing. Look for links on the OSCON, OSCON data, and OSCON Java home pages.
