Sunil Saxena is Chief Architect and Senior Principal Engineer in the Open Source Technology Group of the Software & Services Group at Intel Corporation. He leads the MeeGo Architecture effort, and is responsible for determining what is included in MeeGo and what is not. He works with the industry in driving MeeGo acceptance and helping to get products created on MeeGo for Intel® Atom ™-based platforms.
Dr. Saxena received his Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Waterloo and received his Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi in 1975. He started at Intel in 1993 and contributed to SVR4-MP, which was the first multi-processor UNIX for the PC. He has been instrumental in creating and enhancing the value of Intel’s silicon and platforms through innovations in software. He has made extensive contributions to the success of multiple generations of Intel processors (x86, i860, and Itanium®), and has spearheaded and directed Linux and UNIX kernel development for the past 25 years.
