Moore’s law has provided system architects with an ever increasing transistor budget. Most of the headline news for a new processor release talk about how these transistors are used to increase the number of cores, amount of cache and other performance related features. This talk will describe how some of those transistors are used to provide RAS (Reliability, Availability and Serviceability) features that were previously only present on custom built systems.
Tony has been working on operating system support for high end fault tolerant and mission critical systems for seventeen years, the last ten of them at Intel.
