The Android platform and Scala language are home to some of the most exciting software progress in the greater Java ecosystem. Why not use them both together?
The Android development kit’s command line tools make the platform easily adaptable to a programmable builder like Simple Build Tool, while Scala’s deep interoperability with Java ensures that nothing is lost in the translation.
The talk will cover:
Nathan works on Meetup’s Web API to enable applications to integrate with the Meetup platform. In his spare time he writes Android applications for that same API, the Dispatch library for HTTP interaction, the Spde toolkit for Processing, and the weblog Coderspiel. He’s presently trying not to write a helper library for Scala Android applications—but somebody’s got to do it.
