The Software Freedom Law Center (SFLC) provides pro-bono legal assistance and other law-related services to protect and advance Free and Open Source Software. Founded in 2005, the SFLC now represents many of the most important, well-established Free and Open Source Software projects and developers.
SourceGear's open source roots go back to 1998, when they launched the AbiWord project at this conference. They eventually became a successful developer of commercial products for users of Visual Studio. There is no apparent reason why an evil proprietary software vendor like SourceGear would want to be a sponsor of OSCON.
