I work on a global configuration management system that powers tens of thousands of servers, real and virtual, as well as switches and other assorted network appliances on 5 continents. This system is based on CERN’s ELFms (Extremely Large Fabric Management System) and other FOSS goodness (python, twisted, sqlalchemy, git). It’s also somewhat unique in that our organization is providing our work back to the open source community (albeit to quite a small audience).
I’m also in the process of evangelizing the recent trends in non-relational database technology in large scale corporate environments, in particular the graph model and other semantic web ideas for the purposes of facilitating integrated data modeling and linkage of disparate information systems across silos, organizational units, continents and information systems =)
