The convention center website has some useful information on public transportation.
There is a stop on the VTA light rail right outside the door of the convention center which will link you up with Caltrain, and Caltrain will link you up with BART. The full system map for San Jose shows detail for the Convention Center near the bottom of the E block. (Look for the swirl of routes, seems it’s popular.)
Google maps is a helpful resource. There’s a form link from the VTA website for Google’s “public transportation” feature. If you enter From “San Jose Airport” and To “150 West San Carlos St., San Jose CA” it gives you a bus route that takes about 50 minutes and costs $1.75. The actual distance is 3.8 miles.
The San Francisco airport is 36.8 miles. Google maps suggests taking the BART to Milbrae, then Caltrain to San Jose, and walking the last mile to the convention center, for a total cost of $7.50. You can also transfer to the VTA lightrail or DASH at the San Jose Caltrain station, which will take you to the Convention Center.
