Quick, what do memcache, MogileFS, and Gearman have in common? They are scalable, distributed technologies, and they can also interface with PHP, your ubiquitous Web development language. Digg uses all 3 (and a few more) in its quest for social news domination, and this session will share much of what we’ve learned about them and how they are best utilized with PHP.

I wish more time could have been spent on the other technologies outside of memcache.

I wish Andrei has more time for the presentation. I really digged (fun intended) into the real life experience of using these various tools.

Additional information to share could be measurements on overhead of these various technologies. Also, are there any down-sides or gotchas that we need to watch out for? I felt that PHP was really left out of this discussion, which isn’t too bad, but it made the session title a bit misleading.
