This session is geared towards giving you the basic information needed to get you started on exploring Android SDK for the purposes of education and entertainment. This session will walk you through the basics of 2D tweening animation and frame animation using the Android SDK. The session will then take you through the basics of OpenGL by explaining the Camera, Viewing Volume, and myriad other basic details you will need before being able to program in OpenGL. The session then will walk you through a key set of OpenGL samples that come with the Android SDK. In the end we will cover briefly approaches and resources for game design using Android SDK.
The hope is that Android can be a great platform for educational games for children similar to the NASA kids program.
Satya has widely published with all popular journals with over 30 articles to his credit both in the Java and the .Net (c#) arena. The primary list of articles are available at http://www.oreillynet.com/pub/au/241. Satya is also a frequent speaker at the O’Reilly Open Source Convention (OSCON) in the past few years.
Satya holds a Masters degree in Electrical Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology, India, 1986, and a Bachelors degree in electrical engineering from Andhra University, India, 1984.
Satya has also developed an open sourced Aspire/web a java based “fluent tool” for developing web applications.
He is also working on a general purpose Personal Productivity Site under the open source model.
