This session is geared towards giving you the basic information needed to get you started on exploring Android SDK for the purposes of education and entertainment. This session will walk you through the basics of 2D tweening animation and frame animation using the Android SDK. The session will then take you through the basics of OpenGL by explaining the Camera, Viewing Volume, and myriad other basic details you will need before being able to program in OpenGL. The session then will walk you through a key set of OpenGL samples that come with the Android SDK. In the end we will cover briefly approaches and resources for game design using Android SDK.
The hope is that Android can be a great platform for educational games for children similar to the NASA kids program.

The presentation was very good. Minor critique: even an audience of programmers will be a little disoriented without more of an indication (ie, demos) of what the code samples are doing
The presentation was spot on with regards to what was “advertised”. As a techie without knowledge of Android I learnt so much in such a short period of time.
The presentation was well paced considering the time limit and teh level of tehnicality to address the subject matter.
Simple graphical and animation concepts were used which allowed me to focus on the principals rather than the code.
The 5th star (for 5/5) full marks I feel is well deserved as a few free hot-off-the-presses books were given away, which to me goes a long way to further encourage to explore new technical horizons.
Thank you Satya!
Too much reading from slides. Slides full of example code, but no demonstrations of the results.
