In this session we’ll be talking about and giving a demo on virtualizing the networking services. Traditional virtualization technologies only worry about CPU and memory, but don’t have an efficient way of dealing with the network. Project Crossbow introduces a new highly performant and scalable networking stack into OpenSolaris with unique network virtualization and resource control features. This new infrastructure allows you to combine networking and compute services without trading off security or performance.
The goal of this session is to both describe the Crossbow technology and features and also to also hear from some of the early adopters of Crossbow how they are using Crossbow for their networking applications. Participants will have the opportunity to share their experiences with other developers and deployers as well as to learn about other interesting use cases for Crossbow. Participants will also have the opportunity to ask questions and provide feedback to the Solaris architects behind Crossbow.
