Open source-based businesses have successfully relied a small but reliable set of business models, including the support model and the freemium model. More recently, companies have discovered that the Cloud offers a new monetization model, focused on reliability, scalability and simplified configuration. For example, while Citrix monetizes the open source Xen hypervisor via traditional models, Amazon charges for Xen by the hour with EC2… and who’s raked in more money? In this talk, Jeff uses his experience as a Amazon Web Services product manager and CEO of Twilio to discuss the newest cloud business model and how it’s enabling a new breed of business opportunities.
With over 10 years of entrepreneurial leadership experience, Jeff most recently served as Product Manager for Amazon Web Services. He was also co-founder and Chief Technology Officer of sports retailer Nine Star, founding Chief Technology Officer of online ticketing exchange Stubhub.com, and founder and Chief Executive Officer of Versity.com. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Michigan, where he studied Computer Science and Film.
