Jeff Horwitz

Jeff Horwitz
Lead Systems Engineer, Monetate, Inc.

Jeff Horwitz has been part of the system administration and open source communities for over ten years. He currently resides in the Philadelphia suburbs, working for Discovery Communications as a Senior Systems Administrator and Developer for Petfinder. Jeff is the author of several open source software projects, as well as the book Unix System Management Primer Plus. He has spoken at conferences such as the O’Reilly Open Source Convention and YAPC, and at several users group meetings around the Northeastern US. Jeff is a Sun certified system administrator and holds a Bachelor of Science in Cellular & and Molecular Biology from the University of Michigan.

mod_parrot embeds the Parrot VM in the Apache web server, giving Parrot and its languages access to the Apache API without the overhead of writing a module for each language. This talk will explore the goals of mod_parrot, its architecture, why it is important at this point in time, and the ease with which new languages can be integrated. Read more.
