Open Source in Churches and Missions

BoF
Location: Portland 251

Linux, Apache, MySQL/PostgreSQL, Drupal, OpenOffice, and many other open source projects can be used to simplify the lives of church workers and missionaries, giving them the tools they need to stay on task, without dealing with the purchase costs, licenses, and other constraints imposed by commercial software.

How are you using open source to further your ministry?

What challenges have you faced while implementing it, both from the technology side and the people side, and how have you overcome those challenges?

What advice do you have for people who want to adopt open source in their church or missions organization?

Come discuss these topics and meet other volunteers and staff involved in bringing open source and ministry together.

Hosted by Steve Simms of prayerletters.us, a company that is successfully using open source software to provide easy-to-use services to hundreds of missionaries around the world.
