Writing is an opportunity to enrich readers, and sometimes even yourself. It’s hard work, demanding technical knowledge, writing skill, and the ability to engage constructively with critics, but the results can work wonderfully as tutors, business cards, reference, and inspiration.
O’Reilly editor and author Simon St.Laurent will explain what’s involved in getting started with writing for O’Reilly, through blogging, articles, and books, and will explore the special challenges of pitching a book, writing a book, the publishing process, and getting your book out into the world. The publishing industry is very different from much of the tech world – except when it’s similarly frustrating – but can bring its own rewards.
