Building an Open Source Unified Communications Solution - The Druid Project

Unified communications (UC) aims to reduce human latency in business processes by linking different technologies (CRM, IM, mobile, and others) together to provide new services. In this session, we will discuss Druid, designed from the ground up to be UC software platform that organizations can easily deploy and use for their communications. We will also discuss other services that Druid can provide on top, including creative collaborative applications (XMPP, CRM integration) and mobile applications (Blackberry, iPhone), and other potential ideas.

Navin Kumar is the Chief Technical Officer of Voiceroute, the leading open source unified communications provider and the chief corporate sponsor of the Druid project. Druid is the world’s leading Open Source Unified IP Communications platform that unifies plug and play IP telephony, Instant Messaging, mobile phone, faxing and other communications media in an easy to deploy and useful platform. Navin explores the many different technical avenues which the Druid project encompasses, and develops on the project in his spare time as well. He has degrees from both Carnegie Mellon University and Cornell University.
